When building a steel structure, the big decision is how the members connect: field welding, or shop-fabricated bolted connections? At Indumor we fabricate for both systems, so we can compare them without selling either.
Members arrive long, get fitted and welded in position. Pros: forgiving tolerances, easy to modify on the fly, less detail engineering up front. Cons: joint quality depends on the field welder (wind, rain, awkward positions), more erection hours, and inspecting welds at height is expensive — or simply skipped.
All welding happens in the shop, in controlled position; on site you fit and bolt. Pros: consistent joint quality, fast erection (days instead of weeks), a structure you can dismantle and extend, galvanized members with no post-weld touch-up. Cons: demands detail engineering and exact fabrication — if the holes do not line up, the problem is serious.
A bolted system is only as good as its hole patterns. That is why we cut gussets and plates by laser: every hole lands where the drawing says, and on site the bolts drop in without reaming or torching.
We fabricate structural packages for buildings and warehouses in both systems, with labeled piece marks ready for your erector.
We quote the structure in the system that fits your project.
