Stainless steel for the food industry

Stainless steel food processing line

In a food plant, steel does not just support things — it touches what people eat. The sector has its own rules, and at Indumor we know them from fabricating for meat processors, dairies and process plants.

What gets fabricated in stainless

  • Worktables and sinks: sanitary work surfaces with rounded radii and backsplashes.
  • Conveyor frames: washable transporter frames with no dirt-trapping corners.
  • Tanks and vats: vessels for liquids and process, with polished interior finish.
  • Platforms and stairs: access structures rated for daily washdown with water and chemicals.
  • Carts and supports: mobile equipment and process equipment supports.

Welding makes the difference

Food-grade welding is TIG, continuous and polished: a porous or unfinished seam is a bacteria farm no inspection forgives. Our welders work stainless with backing gas and post-weld polishing for smooth, sanitary seams.

The classic mistake: mixing steels

Stainless gets contaminated when worked with the same tools as carbon steel: a shared grinder leaves particles that later rust the surface. Serious stainless work demands dedicated tools and a dedicated area — which our plant has.

Carbon where you can, stainless where you must

Not everything in a food plant is stainless: structures that never touch product go in galvanized or painted carbon steel, and the budget thanks you. We help define which material goes where, by zone (wet, dry, product contact).
