On a European drawing the column reads HE 200 A. On the bill of materials, HEA 200. On an old German drawing, IPBl 200. All three are the same section, and it helps to know that before calling around for stock of something that sounds odd. One more detail: an HEA 200 is not 200 deep, it is 190. The name is off by ten millimeters, and the whole series plays the same trick.
Below are the nineteen sizes, from HEA 100 to HEA 600, with their actual depth, weight per meter and design properties.

These are the nominal values of the HEA series in the European standard EN 10365, with tolerances to EN 10034, checked against catalogs based on its 2017 edition. In Argentina it is the IPBl series of IRAM-IAS U 500-215-3, which is why a local catalog may list it as IPBl or as “light Grey.”

The wide flange became possible with Henry Grey's universal mill, which started up in Differdange, Luxembourg, in 1902, although those first beams still had a 9 % inner slope. The HE series was fixed in Europe with Euronorm 53-62, and the name stuck: in Argentina the HEA is still called light Grey. We tell the full story in the history of the I-beam. Today, when even the HE series falls short, the answer is a girder built from plate, covered in welded I-beams, and when the span is long and depth is available, a truss may be worth a look, as we discuss in truss or rolled beam.
