Building a second plant identical to the first is a lot like repeating the barbecue that came out perfect. The recipe was simple; the hard part is remembering everything you did without thinking. Ten years of patches, crossed hoses and a dust collector that never quite pulled are part of the plant too, and nobody ever drew them.
The original drawings of the first plant are no longer useful. What is useful is the as-built, the drawing of how it actually ended up. You survey it with a tape and a camera, machine by machine, and you measure the real consumption of power, air and water instead of copying catalog figures. With that in hand you decide what to repeat and what to fix: the bottleneck everyone knows about, the building that turned out too low for the overhead crane, the hopper that needed a vibrator. And you look at the new site, because the same building does not work everywhere. Wind, snow and seismic loads under Argentina's CIRSOC codes change the structure, the soil changes the foundations, and the grid power changes how many machines you can switch on at once.
The advantage of copying is that everything can be fabricated in parallel. While civil works go on at the site, the shop cuts the columns and rafters, assembles the platforms and the conveyor structures, and builds the custom equipment. It pays to standardize: one stair size, one walkway height, the same bolts. And to number everything, from the first column to the last pipe support, so that erection means reading a drawing rather than guessing.
What is not numbered gets lost.
The second plant starts up with people from the first. They are the ones who know where the line jams and which noise means something is wrong. Once it is running, you survey it again, because the as-built of the second plant is the starting point for the third.
If you have not surveyed the plant you want to repeat yet, start with the guide on what to survey to clone a factory. And if you already have the as-built, at Indumor we turn it into tonnes of structure and equipment fabricated while your site work moves ahead.
From the as-built of the first one we quote structures and equipment fabricated in parallel with your site work.
