Mining

Argentine mining is living its most intense decade. In San Juan, world-scale copper projects such as Vicuña, Los Azules and El Pachón are advancing; in Catamarca, Salta and Jujuy, salt-flat lithium is already producing and expanding, while MARA brings copper back to Catamarca; Mendoza has PSJ Cobre Mendocino approved and Santa Cruz keeps producing gold and silver. Behind every project are thousands of tonnes of steel: plant structures, hoppers, chutes, conveyors, camps, tanks and platforms.

In this section of the Steel Knowledge Hub we explain, project by project and province by province, what is being built, what steel fabrication it demands and how to enter Argentina’s mining supply chain: registries, quality, logistics and the RIGI incentive regime. Written from our plant in Córdoba, one or two truck-days from every mining district — and quoting in English.
